Zeke successfully completed week three of agility I class. We worked extensively on maintaining calm behavior in an exciting environment through mat training. We practiced jumps, tunnels, chute and table. We even did the combination of chute, tunnel, table without cookies in between the obstacles!
The A-frame was the new piece of equipment that was introduced. And unlike his sister, Zeke was a bit shy at first–but once he went over it, he flew the next round.
Our homework is to continue working on targeting, calm mat behavior, jumps and tunnels. Zeke is working hard to get a consistent down-stay on his mat. Once he gets one that lasts for at least five seconds, we’ll start the Protocol for Relaxation with him and review it with Daisy. Daisy is having some transition issues, so we’ll need to run through the Protocol with her a few more times to ease her anxiety when Mom leaves and when visitors come into the house.
