Zeke met a 12-year-old, Shepherd mix (who trains at the same agility center as us) this afternoon, and they played very well together. She chased Zeke around the fenced yard for about an hour. Zeke also smelled every inch of the yard and got to play with an agility tunnel. His lady friend tolerated some of his poor manners, but also corrected him when he went a little overboard with his greetings or mouthy play. Overall, it was a success, and we hope to return–perhaps with Daisy as well.
It’s very encouraging to see such good progress with Zeke’s reactivity! The other dog was sitting on her porch when we arrived and started barking at Zeke a bit when he got out of the car. He only barked once and then greeted her nicely at the gate. Mom was truly impressed. We just need to continue to have as many good encounters with as many non-reactive dogs as possible.
