Dog-loving friends:
Many of you may have heard about the very sad situation that took place at the Adams Morgan Street Festival in Washington last week. Parrot, a foster dog of Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, was shot and killed by a DC Metro Police Officer.
It’s another sad display of discrimination based on breed. I’m horrified to think that any person, especially a police officer, would do this to ANY dog that is not threatening another life. I simply can’t fathom that he did this at a public event in front of hundreds of people, including children. My first-hand experience with numerous Pits and Bully mixes at WARL has been nothing but positive–they are usually my favorite dogs at the shelter. This is so, so sad.
Please take a moment to read the story at the link below and consider signing the petition, filing a complaint, or making a donation to Parrot’s Fund. And please pass this on to other animal lovers to help support Lucky Dog Animal Rescue during this trying time.
