The snow’s coming down heavy in the D.C. Metro area today, and there’s no hint of stopping until later this evening. Daisy and Zeke braved the snow earlier today–when we only had about a foot! Here are a few photos and a video–more to come! Hmmm… There used to be a jump and tunnel in [...]

Mom came into the living room yesterday to discover Daisy and Zeke laying in their own beds, despite part of the couch being uncovered!  Yay!  The training is paying off! Also, Mom has been doing volunteer training and agility with the shelter dogs at WARL.  Here’s a video of Archie doing agility! http://www.youtube.com/user/WashAnRescLeag1#play/all/uploads-all/0/py58_cA6EmM Archie is [...]

Zekester had his final agility class for this session.  He’s taking a break to enjoy summer and allow Mom to travel and not miss classes.  He plans to pick up more classes this fall.  Tonight he ran a nine-obstacle course:  table, jump, a-frame, jump, jump, tire, weaves, jump, tunnel.  He did a great job and [...]

Run, Zekester, Run!

Zeke finished another session of agility last night, and he did very well.  He still has some issues focusing too much on the other dogs, but he’s very proficient with all the equipment.  In fact, he’s downright fast.  Once he’s comfortable with an obstacle, he flies.  He’s picking up the two-step footwork on the weaves, [...]

Daisy and Zeke are doing very well, despite all the changes that are happening right now.  Zeke is in the crate during the day since the dog walker is coming, and he’s doing OK with it.  He just got a new, bigger crate that he’s gradually transitioning into–and he loves it! Much bigger!  Zekester had [...]

Agility continued…

Zeke did quite well in agility class tonight.  His attention is near perfection when a visual barrier is in place–even when the BC Tracer is out!  Tracer is irresistable, so that’s impressive.  We worked on jumps, the chute and weaves. Zeke excels with all the obstacles, but it’s very difficult for him to stand near [...]

Zeke restarts agility

This week Zeke began another session of agility I.  As always, he did very well navigating obstacles, but his attention waivered with all the new people and new dogs.  Visual barriers help a lot, and he will improve each session, but training the other people to ignore his behavior is the challenge.  Several women in [...]

Zeke spent the evening in the last session of agility 1 in his own class.  We did the same course as Monday, and he did very well again.  He’s consistently offering downs on his mat during class, which is very exciting!  We have a private lesson next week during the break, and then we’ll have [...]

Agility 1 Continued…

Zeke made up a missed agility class last night, and he did very well, especially considering it involved new people and dogs–and a cute one-year-old, JRT named Roxie.  I think Roxie and Zeke may have been crushing on each other a bit.  Jacks seem to always recognize their own. We worked on the jump chute, [...]

Zeke Does Agility Again

Zeke has another session of Agility I tonight.  We worked primarily on jumping techniques.  We spaced out three and then four jumps close together, then farther apart to force the dog to adjust his stride between jumps.  Zeke was great at it. We’re still working on calming behavior, and I was surprised how well Zeke [...]
